If you want to succeed, you have to put in the hours. Dusty and Lacy of Snyder Construction Group prove that grit is what it takes to grow.
Larry Snyder, Lacy’s father, founded Snyder Construction Group in 1978. His father and grandfather worked in construction, building highways and bridges. While he worked with his family all his life, Larry aspired to run a vertical construction company, so he started one.
Years later, Lacy met Dusty in high school. Dusty had also grown up around construction. His father was a contractor, and he helped him complete projects from an early age. Dusty remembers operating heavy machinery before he could drive a car.
Dusty and Lacy fell in love and married. They moved to Texas as both wanted to gain experience outside the family businesses. In 2001, Larry called and asked them to join the company. Today, Dusty is president of Snyder Construction Group, and Lacy is a member of the board of directors.
Dusty worked his way up through every job in the company, from superintendent to project manager, before transitioning to his current role. He credits his character and ability to help the company through tough times, like the Great Recession, to his dad.
While nothing is set in stone, another generation of the Snyder family may join the business one day. Dusty and Lacy’s kids are in college. Their son has aspirations to be in construction, and their daughter is studying interior design.
Dusty and Lacy have fostered a talented team of young employees. Their goal is to leave a stable company to support and cultivate the next generation, no matter who takes over.
